LT20: Real World Connections?

NO SHOW THIS WEEK

It MIGHT be worth watching the two-hour series finale of Alias. The same people behind this show are also with Lost and maybe there is some insight to be gained? After all the main character in Alias is named Syndey (as in Australia)…and she is pregnant this season (as in Claire and Sun)…and she has a parent issue as mom shows up (as in who on Lost doesn’t have a parent issue?)…and show is currently battling some disease (as in the Sickness). Besides, I hear Jennifer Garner is in it.

BALLOONS – THE GIFT THAT JUST KEEPS GIVING

This sign, when blown up to be read, reads…

Minnesota Metallurgy Mining Co.
Proudly Sponsored By

The first logo is Mr. Cluck’s Chicken Shack. The second logo is Nozz-A-La, a soda company. Nozz-A-La cola is not a real company, but the drink name was used in Stephen King’s Dark Tower series and Kingdom Hospital.

LOCKDOWN

Is it related to the food drop? Consider this is what was found among the writing on the blast door map: ACTIVITY MINIMAL DURING LOCKDOWN AND RESTOCKING PROCEDURES

The map also mentions that PRD occurs every 6 to 8 months. Some speculate that PDR could stand for Parachute Rations Delivery.

All items we have seen from the drop appear to be marked for the Swan hatch in particular.

GROUP HALLUCINATIONS

People are beginning to speculate that group hallucinations are happening. This is motivated by the need to reason away odd observations. For example, many people saw the Polar Bear – very odd. Was it real? It sure appears to be.

Then we have Jack’s hallucination of his father – no one else sees the man standing on the beach in a tuxedo. So, we go with Jack having a bad trip.

Then we have Walt. He appears to be a hallucination for Shannon until Sayid notices him too. In this group of oddities, we also have Kate’s horse seen by Sawyer.

It’s getting harder and harder to tell reality apart from dreams for the Survivors of Oceanic Flight 815.

HOW WILL THIS END?

It seemed important to me that the producers promised all the show’s concepts would be based on scientific theory. I liked that. With what we have witnessed, it seems difficult to believe it. Consider the magnetic properties for a moment. We now have been shown that people heal on that island. Magnets have been used for years as a healing agent. My first thought was Emmit Smith using them to decrease his recovering time from a football injury maybe 7 years ago.

It does then appear we will be given logical explanations to the Magic Island and not some supernatural, biblical, dream sort of ending. Good!

ISAAC’S WALL

Some recent observations about Isaac’s wall:

There is a picture of a hot air balloon:

And there is a letter with the return address as San Francisco, but the ZIP Code is not for that city! And the letter is addressed to a “Cheryl”, not Isaac.

And how about this one:

It appears to read “Look, I can…NO CRUTCHES…signed…John…”

Another thank you is from Thailand…where Jack learned to play cards.

And a picture on the wall looks an awful lot like Ecko’s mother from his flashback.

Of course the whole room was full of crutches and wheelchairs. Has every Survivor visited Isaac?

THE EIGHT SIDED DHARMA SYMBOL

Ok, here is the whole wall:

BOTTOM LEFT, DARK BORDER, 8-SIDED SNOWFLAKE-LIKE DESIGN

UPPER CENTRAL, PURPLE DESIGN, 8-SIDED DESIGN

TOP EDGE, 25% FROM LEFT EDGE, JUST RIGHT OF THE BLACK-AND-WHITE CIRCLES – 8-SIDED SNOWFLAKE-LIKE DESIGN

That same 8-sided symbol is seen everywhere.

It seems to come in a variety of designs – spokes, snowflake, starburst, what have you. Sort of like this design on Rose’s hand:

BAD TWIN

The book subtitled, “His Final Novel Before Disappearing on Oceanic Flight 815”, is due in bookstores on May 2.

DIARY EXCERPT

I was headed for the hatch when I came across Charlie and Eko building in the jungle. And I’m more confused now than ever. Charlie insists that my brother is not in the armory…and Charlie is the one person on this island that thought I could trust, especially after the way he tried to protect Claire and the baby.

They’re all talking about me – they don’t think I can hear them, but I can! People are saying I’m crazy. I’m crazy? Me? HAH! All I know is that I don’t intend to spend the rest of my life on this God-forsaken rock without my brother. And if that makes me “crazy” so be it. But I just can’t go on in this place without somebody I can trust. Why will no one help me?

THE O.K. CORRAL and OTHER RUMORS

Word has it that Jack and Sawyer face off yet again. This town ain’t big enough for two sheriffs.

A fan asked in a chat session with producers, “Who is the one dying on Lost? Hey, it’s worth a try.” To which the producer responded, “I’m 99.9% certain your verb is incorrect!” Hmmm…

In a follow-up question, “Is someone already dead on Lost?” The producer typed, “No. For the record, the verb conjugation is wrong. Not the tense. We won’t get nitpicky about the verb-subject agreement.” LOL!

Enjoy,

KC
